AHMAD ABDALLA’S DÉCOR MAKES ITS WORLD PREMIERE AT THE BFI LONDON FILM FESTIVAL

Before its release in Egyptian theatres through New Century Production, Ahmad Abdalla’s Décor will make its world premiere at the 58th BFI London Film Festival. The film’s passion for cinema is one reason that Décor will be screened within the festival’s Love section, which will screen 34 films addressing different aspects of love.
Slated to take place 8-19 October 2014, the BFI London Film Festival will host Décor’s film screenings on the 12th and the 13th of October. The BFI London Film Festival is one of the largest European festivals, screening hundreds of films from around the world every year.
Filmed entirely in black and white, Décor introduces a storyline that is unconventional in Egyptian cinema, the story of Maha, who has always been passionate about film, and who, as a set designer, has become an expert at creating imaginary worlds. Under immense pressure at work, Maha sights another life on the horizon and begins slipping between realities-one resembling the film set she’s designed and the other her supposed real life. These two worlds are represented by Sherif and Mustafa, and as Maha grows ever more entangled in each, the border between the real and imagined becomes blurred. Maha walks a fine line between her parallel lives, and must decide for the first time what she truly desires.
Décor stars Khaled Abol Naga, Maged El Kedwany and Horeya Farghaly. New Century has also released the film’s teaser poster with the tagline “To each his own world”, a key sentence to understanding of the film’s story, which takes place in two separate worlds each attracting the heroine. New Century has also previously launched the teaser website for Décor, which is distributed by Dollar Film.
In keeping with New Century’s commitment to engaging new and fresh talents in film production, Sherine Diab marks her screenwriting debut with Décor. Sherine co-wrote Décor with her brother Mohamed Diab, whose screenwriting debut Ahlam Haqiqiya (Real Dreams) was produced by New Century. Mohamed Diab went on to write and direct the 2010 New Century film production Cairo 678.
