OUT OF THE ORDINARY CONTENDS IN THE MUHR ARAB COMPETITION AT THE DUBAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Date: 04 November, 2014
As winter knocks the doors, bringing to a close a hustling season of 2014’s most anticipated Arab film festivals, Daoud Abdel Sayed’s Out of the Ordinary receives its World Premiere at the 11th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Running through December 10-17, 2014, DIFF has announced the selection of New Century Production’s latest film to contend within the Muhr Arab Competition for Short Films, Features and Documentaries.
Featuring unprecedented elements in Egyptian and Arab cinema, Out of the Ordinary follows Yehia whose scientific investigation of the paranormal yields naught, so he takes a forced vacation from his work and regular life. Wandering without aim, he settles in a seaside pension inhabited by a clan of quirky characters. As he grows intimate with the pension owner and becomes close to her charismatic young daughter, Yehia believes he’s stumbled across the magic he’d so long sought. Something out of the ordinary seems to exist within them all, and perhaps also within himself.
Distributed by Dollar Film, Out of the Ordinary is written and directed by Daoud Abdel Sayed, who recently put the final touches on the film’s visual effects on more than 25 scenes.
The film stars Khaled Abol Naga, marking his second collaboration with Abdel Sayed after Mowaten we Mokhber we Haramy (2001), in addition to Naglaa Badr, Mahmoud Elgendy, Abbas Aboelhassan, Hassan Kami, and Ahmad Kamal. Continuing to play a verve key role in Abdel Sayed’s features, the musical score will be composed by great Egyptian composer Rageh Daoud.
New Century also revealed the film’s teaser poster in addition to one still from the film, concurrently with the launching of an official Facebook page for the film under the قدرات غيرعادية Out of the Ordinary, which posts the latest updates and news about the film in its different phases.
