NEW CENTURY BRINGS LIFE TO DONIA KARIM CINEMA IN DOWNTOWN
Date: 02 February, 2015
Following years of a long hiatus, Donia Karim cinema, Downtown, is coming back to life after joining New Century Production’s cinemas. The production slate has reopened the long-standing screening venue following a series of renovations that resulted in a completely modern theater house. Donia Karim was inaugurated last Wednesday, January 28th, 2015, with two screen halls that can seat up to 600 movie-goers.
Ahmed Badawy, the CEO of New Century Production, expressed how it is important to revive Donia Karim to bring back audiences to the theatre houses of Downtown. “Downtown once was one of the most vital areas that attracted movie-goers in Egypt, and that has changed with the decline of the cinemas’ quality. Seeking to revive the cultural role played by the retro cinema, New Century has equipped Donia Karim with state-of-the-art technologies to revive the cultural role played by these halls,” Badawy added.
New Century has made inner and outer renovations, while keeping the historically aesthetic features of the edifice. The theatre encompasses two screen halls; the main hall, which contains 480 seats; and the small hall, which contains 110 seats. The screen halls were entirely repaired and fitted out with the latest equipment, such as 3D technology and stereophonic sounds.
