A Gigantic Robot & Dystopian Streets in Teaser Trailer for Mousa

03 September, 2020
Only a few days from the wrapping of the film shooting, Synergy Films, New Century Productions and Misr International Films released teaser trailer for the upcoming Sci-fi, Mousa. The film holds the record for the highest-budget sci-fi film in Egypt, marking an unprecedented turn in the sci-fi genre in the history of Egyptian cinema.
In less than a minute, the film's teaser trailer showcases the dark and highly-intriguing dystopian atmosphere of the film that displays explosions and signs of a nearly-happening apocalypse. The video boasts the voice of Eyad Nassar as he recounts the events of a sad day, while featuring scenes for the spookily empty streets of the dystopian city except from a gigantic robot that is remotely controlled through and implanted chip in Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz's head.

Director Peter Mimi posted the teaser trailer to his page on Facebook where the audiences went into a frenzy of questions of anticipations and asking about the film's release dates. Currently, the film is ahead of the editing phase where the visual effects will be added using state-of-the-art graphic techniques.

Mousa is the first Arab AI and robotics movie in the Arab world that follows a university student in the faculty of Engineering who invents a robot for personal assistance, however a cryptic turn of events gets everything out of control.

Written and directed by Peter Mimi, the film stars Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Eyad Nassar, Asmaa Aboulyazid, Sara El Shamy, Mohamed Gomaa, and Salah Abdallah. Mousa is co-produced by Synergy Films (Tamer Morsi), New Century Productions, and Misr International Films, and distributed in Egypt by Dollar Film, and by Taher Media Production internationally. MAD Solutions handles the film's marketing.

After two years in the writing and preparation phase, the film shooting commenced in October 2019, however it was put into a halt due to the global COVID-19 crisis. Mousa marks the second consecutive collaboration between Peter Mimi and Eyad Nassar following the blockbuster Casablanca, which exceeded 80 million EGP in the Egyptian box office. On the other hand, Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz made a cameo appearance in Mimi's successful TV drama, Al Ekhtyar, which premiered in Ramadan 2020.
